Saw you in the diner

Sitting up at the counter

Blue dress and your dancing shoes

But there was no one next to you

Sometime I wonder where you’ve been

What road life has taken you down

Was it filled with rocks or heavy stone

‘Cause now you head to softer ground

And you say, “I just want things to go away”

And you say, “I don’t want things to feel the same”

But you can’t keep on running away

Cause if you do it all just goes up in flames

Up in flames

Up in flames

Up in flames

Sometimes the greatest fears we slay

Fall to the sound of our words

‘Til they sit and spoil and decay

And we see what we have learned

And you say, “I just want things to go away”

And you say, “I don’t want things to feel the same”

But you can’t keep on running away

Cause if you do it all just goes up in flames

Up in flames

And you say, “I just want things to go away”

And you say, “I don’t want things to feel the same”

But you can’t keep on running away

Cause if you do it all just goes up in flames

Up in flames

Up in flames

Up in flames

I wrote this song about a friend that seemed to run from their relationship problems in hope of something better, but not being willing to face the awkward conversations. Not to worry, they are in a far better place now.
